![]() Dog really helped me get through this day. I was excited to see my family but it was for such a short amount of time that I knew it would hurt when I would have to say goodbye again. I had a lot of school work and club activities, and my family was also coming into town. Remi Wolf does a great job relating to her listener in this song and even though it didn’t necessarily have to do with my mood that day, I was excited for her new releases and how they encouraged me to reflect on my experiences during the pandemic. I understood this as I reflected back on my own experience during the pandemic and really took into account how much I’ve changed since the start of COVID. She details how the pandemic has affected her personally but also her music and how she’s been dealing with the change. I immediately gravitated towards “Anthony Kiedis” as it depicted Remi Wolf’s experience during COVID. I had remembered the songs dropped as I was making my way to class so I turned them on. ![]() On Thursday, Remi Wolf released “Anthony Kiedis” and “Front Tooth” in preparation for her upcoming album titled “Juno”, releasing on October 15th. This song and the overall day made me reflect on my childhood and really resonated with me. McKenna describes a scene of him and his friend going over to each other’s houses and how much they enjoyed each other’s company. “My House” perfectly depicts that childhood simplicity and the longing to experience it one more time. This song reminds me of that and the simplicity we both lived during that time. I specifically have a friend who is my neighbor and I remember going over to each other’s houses every day since we lived right next to each other. That day specifically I had a lot of phone calls with hometown friends and this song really reminds me of that. Starting from last Wednesday, I’d say my day can best be described through the song “My House” by Declan McKenna. Today’s column is going to be all about the music I’ve been listening to this week, why I was listening to it, and how it got me through the day. No matter my mood during the day, I can always rely on music to help me get through it. Those days when you’re walking around campus and enjoying where you are in that present moment. Those days where everything just isn’t going your way and you’re just ticked off. The 12 track album features “ All I Got“, “ Can I Get A Witness“, and “ No Warm Up” which were all favorites from ‘ The Name EP‘.OctoThis was a crazy week and so are these songs. This Canadian artist has a way with words which is easily depicted in his latest musical project ‘ One Long Dream‘. “ My Friend” is his latest song but he has many tunes under his belt. We are sure his dad would have loved and appreciated “My Friend”. ![]() SonReal naturally delivered a track that was simple yet heartfelt, something like this can’t be written just because. Like with many situations in life.” If we ain’t got time then we ain’t got nothin, ain’t got hate then we ain’t got lovin“. Within the bad there was so much right and so much love. For example, the chorus hits home many times because it contrasts negatives with positives. Wether or not one relates to the exact situation of the song, there’s so much to be said about what one can indeed relate to. Emotions were beautifully captured and kept building as the song progressed. In the song he gets personal about their relationship, not only as father and son but as friends. He recently released a track titled “ My Friend” about his late father Glenn Stephen Hoffman. There’s a lot of talent in the field of music but every now and then you come across an artist that can not only tell their story through their craft but also influence and inspire others to tell theirs.
